Visual Effects

Volker has spent 25 years as an independent VFX supervisor and producer in Los Angeles and is best known for supervising the ground-breaking visual effects for the blockbuster “Independence Day”, for which he received an Oscar®.

He was co-producer and VFX supervisor for the 2016 sequel “Independence Day: Resurgence”, the disaster epic “2012” and the action thriller “White House Down”. He was also executive producer and VFX supervisor for the period drama “Anonymous”.

After founding the production/VFX company Uncharted Territory in 1999 with his long-time collaborator Marc Weigert, they co-produced the limited series “Dark Kingdom - The Dragon King” and the Sci-Fi Channel limited series “The Triangle” for which they won an Emmy Award.

After a move to Germany in late 2020, the company is currently in development of several projects, among them two feature films based on novels by bestselling author Cornelia Funke and a reboot of the German cult SF series “Raumpatrouille”.

Volker is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Producer's Guild of America and the Visual Effects Society.
