Marcus Sauermann studied – besides Film - psychology, German language and literature, philosophy and other old-fashioned stuff, with which in the end you can only become a freelance author. As such he writes books for children, short stories for adults and screenplays for everyone.
Many of the animated films and series he developed (Little Boy and the Beast, Angels on Foot, Trudes Tier, Petzi...) have won national and international awards: ITFS, Golden Sparrow, Grimme, Prix Jeunesse, Annecy Cristal, Cartoon d'Or, Robert Geisendörfer, NYICFF, Japan Prize ... Most of these were collaborations with Studio Soi in Ludwigsburg.
Since 2011 he has been teaching dramaturgy at the FABW and since 2016 supervising the diploma projects at the AI as Senior Lecturer with focus on "storytelling". He lives with his family near Ludwigsburg, likes to withdraw to a dark corner at Studio Soi to write and rides from there to the Filmakademie in 5 minutes by bike, in case someone there has an idea for a great film opening, but just needs a fitting end.
