TechTalks present innovative virtual production via livestream

State-of-the-art LED technology at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg

Press Release: Ludwigsburg/Germany, November 11, 2021

High-resolution LED screens, as used on set of Disney’s hit series Mandalorian and the German Netflix production 1899, are currently revolutionizing the film and media industry. On November 11, a livestream from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg offers the opportunity to gain insights into the innovative technology as part of the discussion format TechTalks Stuttgart.

The industry is currently changing rapidly: while in the past green screens were there go to technology to create virtual worlds, the latest LED technologies enable dynamic interaction between acting and visual effects in real time. Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg has been researching virtual production in the film and media industry for many years, with a focus on modern display technologies. For the second time, Animationsinstitut at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is currently using high-resolution LED walls for the virtual production of student projects.

On November 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. (CET), the livestream presented by TechTalks Stuttgart offers a variety of presentations dedicated to virtual production. TechTalks is a regular discussion format by Filmakademie’s Animationsinstitut, Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart (AMCRS) of the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg (MFG), Hochschule der Medien (HdM), the Stuttgart Region Film Commission, an institution of the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation and the Media Solution Center Baden-Württemberg.

This installment of TechTalks will conclude with a presentation of Animationsinstitut’s latest projects, which use LED screens as part of the production process. In addition, students of Filmakademie will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the transmedia project Cybercity Lovestory and the annual Set Extension Workshop. Both project teams will shoot in front of LED walls provided by Rent Event Tec at Filmakademie’s Albrecht-Ade-Studio in the coming weeks.
