Since the winter semester 2017/2018, the state of Baden-Württemberg has levied tuition fees of €1,500 per semester for international students from non-EU countries.

For students who have already completed their first degree in Germany, the state of Baden-Württemberg charges secondary tuition fees of € 650 per semester.

DSH Level 2, TestDAF Level 4, Level B2 (Goethe Institute) (Not required for the Technical Director specialization).

No, the Filmakademie doesn't offer any German language courses.

Most of the basic study courses are taught in German.

Project studies are mainly held in English. English is the only language used in the Technical Director specialization.

Before applying to the Filmakademie, qualifications must be submitted to the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart for confirmation of equivalence to the German high school leaving qualification (Abitur). (see info)

Foreign applicants who have a secondary school leaving certificate (diploma, not an interim report) must provide this certificate "for the determination of equivalence" to the German Abitur (university entrance qualification), before submitting their application. It must be submitted in a franked DIN A4 envelope, with the applicant's address on the back, to:

If you have a pre-qualification and/or a Bachelor’s degree, please submit the certificate in the following format:

- Original certificate (will be returned to you) or
- certified copy (kept by the university) plus
- notarially certified copies in German or English (kept by the university).

Applicants from Korea

A Scholastic Ability Test (Arts & Athletics) is also required.
All documentation must be provided in the original.

Applicants from China

An APS certificate is also required (more details can be found here.)
