Tonio Freitag

Visual Effects

Tonio Freitag has been CG Supervisor at RiseFX in Stuttgart since 2018, where he is co-responsible for visual effects on films such as Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Doctor Sleep (2019).

Born in Berlin, he came to Stuttgart in 2005 to gain experience with visual effects as an intern and later as a freelancer at Unexpected. Even before joining Filmakademie 2007, he worked as 3D artist and VFX supervisor on student projects and diploma films. During his studies, which he completed in 2011 with a diploma in Animation and Visual Effects, he received the Karl-Steinbuch scholarship of the MFG Foundation and was nominated for a VES Award.

From 2014 to 2018 Tonio Freitag was Head of 3D at Pixomondo Stuttgart. There he worked on projects like Furious 7 (2015), Bridge of Spies (2015), Live by Night (2016), Justice League (2017) and Game of Thrones (2017).

In addition to his full-time job, Tonio gives lectures on visual effects and has been teaching at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg since 2016.
