Juliane Walther, Graduate Animation/Effects Producing

What did you do before (studies, training, experience through jobs and internships)?

I worked as a motion designer for Pixomondo in Frankfurt and before that I studied Integrated Design at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau.

What appealed to you about the AEP studies? As an artist, I noticed that I liked planning and organization better, but I wanted to stay in the animation film field and found out where you can study animation production. That's when I came across the Filmakademie, back then the only institution where you could study animation/effects producing. In addition, I found the quality of the projects interesting, so I knew that there you can realize projects together with talented people. I like working in teams, preferably in well-rehearsed teams with whom you can walk through thick and thin.

What is so special about Animationinstitut?

If you have an idea that you want to put into practice, you have all the possibilities you could wish for. Not to mention the technical support. In addition, you can get in touch with people from other parts of the Filmakademie to get advice for your own projects.

Creature Pinup, a project Juliane worked on as a producer, even received a nomination at the prestigious VES Awards.

What was your everday life as a student at Animationsinstitut like?

Working closely with the other team, I chose what to do relatively freely ;)

What do you take with you from your studies at AI in general/ AEP in particular?

Above all contacts.

What are you doing now?

I am currently working on the production "Latte Igel and the Magic Waterstone" as production manager, a cinema animation production of Eagle Eye Filmproduktion, Dreamin Dolphin and Co-Producer Grid Animation here in Ludwigsburg.

What do you recommend to potential applicants?

Be curious, know what you want, be open to new things, have strong nerves ;) and keep calm ;)
