Äffle and Pferdle

In an ongoing collaboration project with LANG-FILM the R&D team is developing and evaluating techniques to transfer the heritage of hand drawn animation sequences into modern production pipelines.

Äffle and Pferdle are two cartoon characters of the Südwestrundfunk (Southwest German Radio). They have been established in 1960 as so-called commercial separators between advertisement spots. The characters illustrate typical Swabian habits and speak the unique Swabian dialect. The Pferdle (horse) character relates to the emblem of the city of Stuttgart.
